Bookings FAQs
When will bookings open?
Available courses are uploaded throughout the year, please check our available dates page regularly, and sign up to our newsletter to be notified when courses first become available.
Is there a discount for group bookings?
Yes, there is. If you book in a group of three you will get a discount, and we can organise an ad-hoc date to suit you best.
How do I book own boat tuition or private tuition?
Please contact us through our contact form, as all private tuition is organised ad-hoc.
What is WebCollect?
WebCollect is simply the software we use for our bookings. It collects the required personal details from you to partake in the course, in-line with our data protection policies, and facilitates us taking payments.
What forms of payment do you take for courses?
We currently only accepts BACS. Please ensure that when given a reference number by WebCollect, you enter it EXACTLY as it appears on screen when transferring funds. This is so we can track and confirm transactions.

Powerboating FAQs
What ages do you take on power courses?
We take youth participants from age 10 and up, but they will not be able to gain the PB2 until they are 12. There is no upper age limit.
Do I need to be able to swim?
You need to be confident around the water, but on powerboat courses we do not intend on going in further than the waist!
Can I powerboat with a pre-existing medical condition?
Most of them time pre-existing medical conditions aren’t an issue. Please do inquire in advance if you are concerned, and consult your physician. Also, please let one of the Instructors know of any conditions that may arise during the course, and let us know where you store medication, inhalers etc. in case of emergency.
Will I definitely get a certificate?
Sometimes candidates for the PB2 require a little more tuition than just the 16-hour course, as everyone learns at different paces. Should this be the case, we can organise top-up tuition to complete the final parts of the course at a later date.
I already have loads of experience! Do I need to do two full days?
We firmly believe that the two-day PB2 is really valuable for learning, whatever stage you are at in your powerboating journey. However, if you are confident in your abilities, we may, in some cases be able to organise a direct assessment, so you can gain the PB2 in one morning or afternoon session. Please contact us for more information.
Do you offer courses other than PB1 or PB2?
Unfortunately we do not offer the Safetyboat course to the public, and cannot offer the Intermediate or Advanced Powerboat qualifications as a centre.
Can we go out in my own boat?
Yes! We offer discounted own-boat tuition, and its a great way to get familiar with how your boat operates.
Will we go out if its cold, windy and rainy?
Broadly speaking, on powerboat courses we will go out in a range of weather conditions (including the wind and the rain). Sometimes we might have to spend a session on land. If the weather looks terrible in advance, your course may have to be postponed.
Will I get wet?
You will have to help launch and recover the boat at the beginning and end of the day, meaning you will get wet to some extent, but we don’t intend on fully entering the water.
What do I need to bring?
Please see our clothing guidance page for what to wear, and bring a passport photo for your PB2 certificate.
What about general PB2 or ICC information?
Please see our dedicated pages for details on these.

Other FAQs
Will there be an opportunity for feedback?
Yes! We ask that every participant, both youth and adults, fill out an anonymous feedback form at the end of each course. Additionally, if you have other feedback, there will always be a Senior Instructor on-site to help you, or equivalently you can email us directly through the contact form.
Do you offer parking?
Sorry, but we are unable to provide any sort of parking for participants. Parking can be relatively affordable at Holmbush Car Park, but we recommend that as far as is possible, participants are dropped off, rather than try to find parking.
Where can I pick-up or drop-off?
Many participants are picked-up or dropped off at the roundabout outside the Cobb Arms, or in the short-stay Monmouth beach car park. Please don’t use the slipway for this purpose – it harms our reputation with other harbour users and could even prevent lifeboat crew from responding to emergencies in good time.
